The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported that a total of 217 more Filipinos overseas have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total number to 7,136.

The number of Filipinos abroad who contracted the virus, meanwhile, climbed to 11,082 with 213 new infections.

The death toll also increased to 802 with one new fatality.

The DFA said the spike in recoveries and infections were due to privacy considerations in one country in the Middle East, which caused delays in reporting.

The Middle East/Africa remained the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 7,347 with 520 deaths and 4,524 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 1,716 infections, including nine fatalities and 1,204 recoveries.

In Europe, 1,209 Filipinos were infected with the viral disease with 95 deaths and 942 recoveries.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 810 cases including 178 fatalities and 466 recoveries.
