About 3,500 freeport workers might lose jobs due to the retrenchment program that will be implemented by 20 companies following the COVID-19 crisis.

According to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), have implemented cost-cutting measures to cope with the pandemic.

This includes forced leave, compressed workweek schedule, and termination of employees.

The compressed workweek schedules hit 124 workers, 2,435 workers underwent forced leave while 883 employees have been terminated due to financial losses.
