92% OF ESTABLISHMENTS INSPECTED BY DOLE FOLLOWED COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
Most of the establishments inspected by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last year complied with government guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in workplaces.
Labor Undersecretary Benjo Santos Benavidez said initially, the compliance rate was 77% but it later rose to 92% after the DOLE provided technical assistance especially to small businesses.
The department visited more than 72,000 factories and offices in 2020.
Benavidez said that establishments that continue to violate the safety protocols could be issued fines of up to P100,000 for each day the violation occurred.
