COURT ORDERS ARREST OF COPS ACCUSED OF KILLING ARMY MEN IN JOLO
The Department of Justice (DOJ) said the Jolo, Sulu Regional Trial Court (RTC) has ordered the arrest of nine policemen accused of killing four soldiers in the town last June.
According to Prosecution Attorney Honey Delgado, spokesperson of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the court issued the arrest warrants on Thursday.
Delgado said the court is scheduled to hear prosecutors’ motion for a hold departure order (HDO) against the accused on Friday.
An HDO is a court order that will prevent a person from leaving the Philippines.
Authorities earlier said the issuance of the arrest warrants was delayed because the judge assigned to the case could not return to the court because Sulu is under a COVID-19 lockdown.
