The Department of Health Announced that the COVID-19 testing program will now cover barangay health workers, social workers, and vulnerable persons such as pregnant women, as it aimed to maximize testing capacity.

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the expanded COVID-19 testing program is part of the government’s efforts to maximize testing capacity.

This came after the government claimed that it could now run 42,000 tests per day.

Vergeire also assures that the agency will continue to expand the laboratories that are licensed in the country.

As to date, the Philippines has tested around 1.5 percent of its 100-million population.
