Malacañang confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte would attend the virtual 36th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit on Friday, June 26.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, President Rodrigo Duterte will be busy for the ASEAN summit as it is a big event for all the countries of ASEAN.

The summit was supposed to be held from June 27 to June 28 in Vietnam, but it was postponed and will now be conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Southeast Asian leaders also attended a special online summit last April to discuss the region’s response to the crisis.
