EXPERTS WORRY ABOUT RUSSIA’S RUSHED COVID-19 VACCINE
Vaccine experts are worried when President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia had approved a COVID-19 vaccine with no evidence from large-scale clinical trials.
Daniel Salmon, Director of the Institute for Vaccine Safety at Johns Hopkins University, said the development is scary and risky.
“I think it’s really scary. It’s really risky,” Salmon said.
Salmon and other experts said that Russia is taking a dangerous step by jumping ahead of the so-called Phase 3 trials, which can determine that the vaccine works better than a placebo and doesn’t harm some people who get it.
