Maaring hindi na matuloy ang pagbili ng Pilipinas ng BrahMos cruise missile na joint project ng India at Russia, dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic.

Ayon kay Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, ginamit na kasi ng pamahalaan ang pondo na pambili sana ng armas para sa panlaban sa COVID-19 pandemic.

Kung nagkataon sana, ang Pilipinas ang kauna-unahang bansa na pagbebentahan ng naturang gamit pandigma na itinuturing na pinakamabilis na supersonic cruise missile sa buong mundo.

Nilinaw naman ni Lorenzana na balak sanang gamitin ng Pilipinas ang naturang cruise missile bilang pang depensa lang at hindi bilang offensive weapon.

Sa ngayon, ayon kay Lorenzana, nagiisip pa ang Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kung mangungutang para pambili ng BrahMos Cruise Missile pero ayaw naman aniya ng Pangulo na ipamana sa susunod na administrasyon ang pagkakautang.
