Tropical Depression Leon strengthened into a tropical storm while moving over the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA reported on Wednesday.

As of 4:00 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Leon was seen 225 kilometers west-northwest of Coron, Palawan, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.

No area in the country is under a tropical cyclone wind signal warning.

Leon, which moves west-northwestward at 10 km/h, will likely leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday morning.
